    Is this a joke? :-)

I know what the Onion is but I am still confused as to if these people were serious or if this was a spoof...

      It was a spoof

Thanks, I just could not tell "who" was doing the spoofing...

        Must be the "pregnancy head"...

The Onion is kind of the print version of the Daily Show.

          That I get :-)

I guess I was sorta wondering if there was SOME truth to this, as with other items in the paper and as you mentioned, the Daily Show... Real life tends to be funnier than fiction at times...

Just seems a far off "topic" to create a whole story from...

I always forget how funny the Onion is. Thanks for the reminder!
And that last line is a killer!

Michelle, you're in good company if you find the Onion confusing, the government of China once reprinted a headline in their official newspaper, thinking that it was true. (I wish I could remember what exactly it was, it was hilarious... my teenager will be home soon and will remember...)

Funny, because I am fairly familiar with the Onion. I read an article on the group this past year and know it is an alternative paper and somewhat "funny" shall we say. I am not a reader though. No time.

The confusing part, I think, was that they do have real news of sorts but portray it oddly so I think I wasn't sure if there was any origins of truth to this. It would have been funnier to me if there was! :-) Also, I have pregnancy brain....that may be a contributing factor! LOL

BTW: Please post the headline you are referring to if you guys remember it, I could use a laugh today.

I just did a quick Google search and this is what I found:

                  Funny... thanks for finding that.

I am trying to remember, I saw a Dateline report or something on them. For some reason, I thought that they spoof but on real news or perhaps part of the time...

Either way, it is good for a laugh!

Isn't China a different country with possible translation issues, etc?
You either "get" the Onion, or not. Apparently, in this case, we have a "not"-for whatever reason.
