Wild Ginger in Great Neck

Someone just recommended this place to me, but most of the posts on here about it are not that recent. Anyone go lately and have an opinion?

  1. I go a couple of times a year and was there last month. They are the same as the day they opened and the food is quite good. Make no mistake, it is not Srip, but they serve some tasty stuff. Interior is very nice, the crowd is what it is, service is very good. I don't think I have ever had a dish I thought was bad. Most apps are very good, my kids love the satay and spring rolls. Good choices are the fire wok seafood curry,a chicken and shrimp dish and duck. The food is a big step up from what you find in most of suburbia, so if its convienent give it a try.

    1. Thanks for the info. I live in Forest Hills, Queens, and given what you said, now I'm wondering how Wild Ginger might compare to my local Thai fare--Thai Pot, Thai Austin, Bann Thai, etc. Anyone able to make that comparison?

      1. I live in Great Neck and go their regularly (although not regularly enough). The food is top-rate, and the decor is fairly nice, even if it is in a shopping center.

I always start with the spring rolls, which are good with an excellent sweet-spicy chili dipping sauce. Salads are good, as are most of the entrees. The "fire wok" is delicious, and I've enjoyed most of the spicy dishes, although they're never all that hot.

Check it out and let us know what you think.
