Golden - Lakewood - Denver West

I am heading out to visit my brother in Golden. I am looking for some places to eat that are not too too pricey, but maybe either good and homey or a little bit funky. No really high end stuff, something more the casual expereinec. Good fast/casual recommendations would be good, too.

McCoy's at Federal & I-70 is a solid, privately owned coffee shop kinda place. Food and service are both solid. Prices are reasonable and portions are generous.

I can think of the three casual places in Golden: Table Mountain Inn, Bridgwater Grill and Woodys Pizza.

There is El Rancho which has been around forever and is not to far away. Might be a little more money then you are looking for.

There is also the Morrison Inn in nearby Morrison which might be exactly what you are looking for.

I wouldn't describe the food at any of these places as great but I generally have a fun time.

I am sure other people might have better suggestions. It might depend how far you want to drive as well.

My Gennesee foodie pal swears by Ali Baba's. http://www.alibabagrill.com/

Table Mountain Inn is pretty good Mexican Fare. Woody's is OK. There's also the Sushi Place On Colfax.

I second the Ali Baba rec. I'm so glad to see it's still open. We had a great meal there on Sep 12th 01. We were the only diners there. I was worried they might not make it.

My favorite spot in this area is Jus' Cookin's in Lakewood at 6th and Simms. Homey, scratch made, farm-house style food. The BEST fried chicken anywhere, and I love their fruit cobblers. The hubby loves the meatloaf.

Oh yes, The Fort (in Morrison) is also fantastic. Real Colorado fare here, but it is pricey, but not to be missed on a trip to Colorado.
