Willaby's catering (or other catering biz in/around Portland)

Hello -

I'm getting married in Oregon in July (if I ever get around to organizing it) and I'm looking for a caterer. I could care less how the ceremony goes, but given how picky my fiance and I are about food, I'll be really angry if the food sucks.

That said, I'm looking at Williamette Valley Vineyards for a wedding location and they use Willaby exclusively for catering.

Has anyone ever been at any events with these guys, or attest to the quality of the food?

Can anyone recommend a different caterer? (yes, I will relocate the whole wedding just for food)

My fiancee and I are going through Willaby's Catering and are getting married at Willamette Valley Vineyards. I have been so impressed The owner, Jean, has taken care of all the details for me and I have not had to worry about anything. My friend did her wedding through them and the food was amazing. Everything was gorgeous. I highly recommend them for any kind of catering service! Let me know if you need more input about their services. I would love to help.

    Thanks,
    Katie

I'm not familiar with the catering - but for the cake you will not be disappointed by Jaciva's Old world recipe & attention to detail - they with the care and attention as if you were thier daugther.

I live in Salem, where Willamette Valley Vineyards hosts a lot of receptions (all of which are required to be catered by Willaby's). I have not been to any events at which a full meal was served. However, I have been to many events at which heavy finger foods were served. I have been very unimpressed. Willamette Valley Vineyards is a beautiful setting, so I hate to tell you to go elsewhere because of the food, but if it were my wedding, I would want to use a different caterer. I don't think you will HATE the food, but I think you'll feel the food could have been better.

If you decide to have the wedding elsewhere (there are many beautiful settings in the Salem area), I highly recommend Wild Pear's catering (wildpearcatering.com), both for the quality of food as well as for the quality of service. (And their cakes -- including wedding cakes -- are divine.)

I haven't heard much good with regards to Willaby. Do you have a menu yet? If so, post it. What is your budget like? And what type of food do you enjoy? These questions may help others suggest a caterer that will fit you and your partner's needs.
