We had a wonderful dinner at Marigold Kitchen Saturday night. We had been away for awhile and the menu is better than ever. What we ate: celery root soup with caraway and escargot (both). Roasted Turnip with Chestnut and Applewood Smoked Bacon (him), Green Salad with Apples, Pomegranate and Aged Cheddar (me), Seared Scallops with Turkish Sausage and Green Lentiles (him), Potato and Chive Gnocchi with Chanterelle Mushrooms (me). Here, I have to stop because while everything was superb, the gnocchi were to die for. Best I've ever had (yes, even better than Vetri IMHO - though very different). For dessert, I had the pumpkin cake with English toffee and candied pumpkin seeds, he had the halvah semifreddo with chocolate-sesame crisp and cherries. We shared a cheese plate. Needless to say, we rolled out of there. I took the descriptions from the online menu. What they are showing on their website is the current menu. While I didn't comment on every course here, believe me each was delicious.

  1. Oh, I meant to add that this is the first time we've been back to Marigold since Jonathan Makar left. The new GM, Brett, is absolutely charming. He told us that Jonathan is working night and day preparing his new place, Snackbar. I think it's in the location of the old Salt.
