Dinner Recommendation in Montreal

My girlfriend and I are visiting montreal next week for four days. It is our first visit, and it will also be our anniversary.

Can any of you foodies suggest a proper French spot befitting a celebration of this kind? I must admit that I'm ignorant when it comes to French cuisine..

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Chowhound, Lowrysc1. Montreal has many great restaurants. If you tell us a little about yourself, things like your budget, and any strong likes or dislikes you or your girlfriend may have, that will help guide folks in making their recommendations.

Hi thanks for the reply. My budget is around 200 USD. There is nothing we need to avoid, no major dislikes. Pretty open to just about anything.

I'd go with Brunoise; three-course fixed-price menu, market fresh ingredients creatively cooked and presented, an interesting, fairly priced wine list, and friendly, knowledgeable service. The atmosphere is elegant, but with the relaxed vibe of a friendly neighborhood place.
