Dinner Recs near Friendship Store?

I moved back to Beijing in September & have been looking for good, clean places to eat day to day in the Jianguomen area (near the Friendship store). Cuisine/price not an issue. Also curious about good recs elsewhere for every now and then, but if anyone can help out with this I'd appreciate it. I've been to a lot of the places posted on this board, but many of my old favorites have closed, and I'm not a tourist. I could also recommend some places that have only Chinese menus if people are willing to give it a shot.

p.s. Am very excited to try Dingtaifeng here in Beijing - I've been to the original in Taipei & that was fantastic (but so was most of the food there). I'd recommend getting the crab xiaolongbao and the veggy ones (cai something zhengjiao), and for desert the red bean paste dumplings (dousha bao), which are better eaten while warm. YUM.

  1. We didn't try it when we were there, as we never went to the Friendshp store, but some local friends recommended Makye Ame, a Tibetan Place that is supposed to be just around tehcorner from it.

    1. I second the recommendation for Makye Ame, very good Tibetan food in nice surroundings.

      1. Cross the big avenue that the friendship store is on and walk until you hit a small street parallel to the main drag, make a right and keep walking for about 3 blocks(?) there was a very good sichuan place on the right side of the street. If the street turns right you've gone too far. Anyone know the place?
