  1. Indus Foods has a huge selection of such cheeses, but maybe not that one.

    Try Oakland Kosher Foods, 839-0177.

Thanks, but Oakland kosher bring these only once every few months. We are looking for a more stable source - as there are in the palo Alto - San Jose area....

Have you asked them about special-ordering it for you?

    2. Yes we did, but the owner was not that cooperative. and the answer was it will be now and than and not on a regular basis.

Another shop - Zand on Solano av. in ALbany sugested they are willing to bring it - but want at least 10 people to make intrest in that - they sugested that they have brought it before but not too many people bought it... so they stopped.

So prefarably we are looking for another shop who might have these on a regular basis - or to create some list for zand.

I've been looking for this as well. If you get other takers, you can add me to your list for Zand.

      2. There is a new place that is to be opening soon on Solano Ave., just west of San Pablo. It has been "opening soon" for months, and first it was going to be Israeli, but now apparently more broad middle-eastern. It looks like they are making a lot of progress on the place (maybe it has just already opened) and maybe they'd be eager to please new customers. I'm sorry I don't have the name/address, but it is on Solano, on the north side of the street, in the 2d block west of San Pablo.

Saffron Gourmet (last I looked) 1007 Solano

Are they really finally making progress. I gave up driving by and just kind of glance down the street occasionally to see if there are lights on. They do seem to have a phone number now ... 529-1344

I walked by there today. All the shelving, refrigerated cases, etc. seem to have been delivered. It looks like they will have a fair amount of fresh and refrigerated products, given what I saw.

        2. You might try some of the fresh white cheeses at Indus Village. They have dozens from a lot of different countries.

          1. Will have to wait and see what will come out of this place - But thanks for preventing me from exploring it tomorrow....
BTW - The Israeli soft white cheese is a close relative of the sour Labane - but it is more softer and not sour - excellent for cheese cakes (if not the best for such ;))
