Help! Saturday night no reservations

We are in town on a last minute trip down from Boston. Stupidly, we don't have any reservations for Saturday night. We are staying near Grand Central but would be open to a cab ride. Where can we go for a decent meal and get a reservation this late or where would we have a good chance of getting into the bar/lounge without waiting 2 hours? We were hoping to spend about $200 including a couple of cocktails and tip. No Indian or Japanese, please. TIA!

We were able to get a table for two at Cafe at Country a few Saturdays ago by calling that same day. It's in the Carlton Hotel, and the entrance to the Cafe is on the corner of Madison & 29th St. (Down a few steps to the lower level.) Delicious food, excellent service, and attractive surroundings. It was a bit noisy because of a bar scene in the adjacent room, but not so much that it was annoying. Anyhow, since you mention bar/lounge options, I'm guessing some noise would not be an issue for you.

Del posto takes reservations on the day of starting at 10am for the enoteca. They have a 4 course meal which was quite good for $41. Morimoto sushi bar is an option as well. Look on opentable as well

you can try hearth in the east village. call or opentable. very good food and atmosphere, $200 should work.
