Are they ever coming back? No one at any location in Southern California seems to know. I really miss them!

I tried them for the first time last week. They are good. Sweet BBQ beans, but they went surprisingingly well in a taco made with some of the regular grilled chicken and lettuce from the salad bowl.

Yes, sugar, barbecue sauce, some sort of smoke flavor, beans, and maybe a bit of ham? The online Pollo Loco menu said at the time that they were NOT vegetarian. Those beans were on my top ten list of food favorites. I've tried to replicate
them at home with no luck.

do you think they may have added any spec. spices, flavorings?

          My best guess is sugar!

I knew I wasn't the only one. I did send an Email to the corporate web site but as you can guess, no reply. One can only hope there might be another supplier out there!

Those beans were wonderful! At my location in
Northern California, when I asked a year ago why
they were gone and if they would come back, I was
told that the supplier in New Orleans had been
put out of business by Katrina, and that the
beans would NOT be coming back. Pollo Loco should get the recipe and have some other place make them, darn it!

Tough question to answer. It seemed to me they were sweeter then the black beans at La Salsa and Baja Fresh (which I think has taken a nose dive in the past couple of years). Made the burritos really tasty.
