visiting Tucson soon
From the Fox Restaurant Group, Sauce is the most reasonable. There are three locations. I'm not ahuge fan of the pizza--crust is too thin--but the chopped vegetable salad ($5, $7 with chicken) is the best deal in town, and the chicken noodle soup is terrific.
For a Rox dinner, we've had very good food at North lately. The kitchen is "on," the menu is varried and the place is fun to be at.
I second Vivace. Other non-Mexican favorites are Kingfisher, The Grill at Hacienda del Sol (expensive but excellent) and Tavolino.
I think doing lunch at Wildflower is a good way to enjoy the food and atmosphere at a lower price point - plus I think their version of an oriental chicken salad is about the best I have ever tasted.
In the non-Mexican category I happen to like Gavi which is an Italian place that is well priced and I think a good value (multiple locations). I think that the Fish at Buddy's Grill is always fresh and a good value. And for a more upscale evening - Viviace (also Italian) is generally well reviewed.
