Going to be traveling up through the Lost Coast and was wondering if any chowhounds had any good reccomendations for lunch or dinner in either Ferndale, Eureka or Arcata?

      1. Definitely try Curley's (in Ferndale) for dinner. Great Lamb Shanks.
        Folie Deuce in Arcata.
Larrupin in Trinidad if its a Saturday night and they're grilling on the patio. The patio small plates are great, but they're not offered to the indoor diners.
Moonstone Grill, just south of Trinidad, is also very nice. Great seafood appetizers.
        Enjoy your trip.

        1. In addition, other choices:

Ferndale - The Ivanhoe for dinner. Very good simple prep Prime Rib and Italian dishes.

          Eureka -
Chinese lunch or dinner at Gonsea Restaurant on 4th Street.

Also, Old Town Coffee & Chocolates 211 F Street, (Old Town District) Eureka 707-445-8600. Nice salads and bagels and sandwiches - great coffee and other. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

          Arcata -
All-American breakfast and lunches at Crosswinds 860 10th St

Also, incredible deli and more at Wildberries Market. Inside tables for seating or to-go. See,

Also, very tasty, quality soup and salad bar inside Moonrise Herbs. Lunch only. Limited seating on bar stools. Self-serve. All organic and vegetarian. On the Plaza in Arcata, 826 "G" Street. Have a great cup of tea there, too and watch the outside Plaza grounds from the window bar.

I would also suggest while your in that area a picnic at Wedding Rock at Patrick's Point (State Park) (Trinidad) up the coast about 10 miles from Arcata. Foggy often (ask if it will clear up by noon), but the most incredible coastline cliffs in the Redwoods and walking trails - especially from the Wedding Rock area. Absolutely beautiful - full nature.

Stock up picnic stuff from Wilberries. They often have cheese from a local creamery, Cypress Grove Chevre. These are served in 5-star restaurants in the U.S., but very affordable in town there.
