I just bought 40 lbs. of late season peaches and want to make some home made jam as a nice gift to some friends. Where can I get home canning tools and mason jars. Help me please!

  1. Broadway panhandler has them. A number of hardware stores cary them. Some of the home depots also stock them. You can also order them online http://www.canningpantry.com/canning-...

    1. I'm forgetting the name of the place, but there's a dish store on B'way around 20th St. that carries them...

I think Lucia meant the store, Fishs Eddy.

that's the one. I knew that there was a fish somewhere in there.

I kept trying to think of the name of that place!!!

        2. Apart from random neighborhood hardware stores that tend to be expensive.. Zabar's has 'em, a little cheaper than Panhandler and often a bigger selection of sizes. They've gotten surprisingly hard to find in Manhattan, though, the KMarts don't even have them anymore.... If you can grab a ride to a Walmart somewhere, they usually have them by the case - a little cheaper still and easier to buy enough for a bushel of peaches.

Whatever you do - get canning - the longer those peaches sit around, the less point there will be to expending all the time, energy, and money on processing them...

          1. Also, the Bowery Kitchen Supply store at Chelsea Market sells them...bet. 9 and 10th Aves, 15/16 Sts.

            1. Gracious Homes at Third Avenue & 71st Street has Mason jars...

              1. the dollars stores carry them too. try jack's

                1. Zabar's has them upstairs in the cookware dept. They have a number of sizes too.

                  1. I had the SAME question...except I'm making salsa.

                    I love this site.....

                    1. Lucia and chocokitty are right. Fish's Eddy has them and for a great price.

Container Store also carries them, though they are pricier.
