Hi,

I need a nice and comfy cafe to read and write in that has good tea and isn't a Starbuck's. Anyone have a recommendation? Thanks!

A lot of people love Amy's Bread and it meets your criteria.

This will sound silly but there is a very pleasant - hold on! - Tasti Dlite - on 9th avenue and 44th or so. Has tea and overstuffed chairs and such.

There is a great coffee/tea shop on the northeast corner of 49th and 9th Ave. They serve some food as well.

Emgoodman is referring to The Coffee Pot. I also am a big fan of Cupcake Cafe/Casa on 40th/9th-- lots of room there too. We wrote up both places, so you can see photos of them on our site.

If you wait just a week or two, Kytotofu is opening, and they promise to have very good tea.
