Westside Hotel Dining Report

Had the occassion to be at the Luxe Hotel on Sunset for lunch today. The restaurant, Cafe Bel-air, has a nice indoor-outdoor setting with a very nice menu. I had the Chinese Chx Salad which had a good amount of grilled chx and was perfectly dressed. It was served with a bread basket which included homemade flatbread flavored with black sesame, herbs and cheese, along with tapenade and olive oil. The people next to me had salmon which looked excellent. All in all a nice relaxing setting for moderate pricing. Later that evening went across the street to the new Hotel Angeleno to the restaurant West located on the 17th floor. Great views and I really like the casual, but hip vibe at the nice intimate bar. We ate in the dining area and shared antipasti if grilled artichokes and raddiccio. The beets are also great. Lots of vegetarian options which I loved. We shared a large plate, the rack of lamb which was perfectly cooked and tender served with an amazing mint sauce, none of that nasty mint gelee. Dessert was a molten chocolate cake with carmel, I could have eaten 2, and a peach tatin...good, but didn't hold a candle to the chocolate. Service was very pleasant, but a little slow though we certainly were not in a hurry enjoying the view and the music playing in the background. We're happy to have this in our backyard so to speak.
