Spotted Pig this Saturday

What is the best time to show up at TSP on a Saturday night? I'm happy to wait for an hour and have a couple of drinks—but I'm not willing to wait for two hours. It's my first time, so any menu recs would be well appreciated, too. Thanks!

  1. Don't do it! Maybe have a drink, look at what's being served. Other than the gnudi, you may not be tempted. At 6 the wait shouldn't be bad, anyway. Maybe hit Little Owl for your main course.

    1. No idea about when to go, but I highly recommend their beer, maybe it has bitter in teh name? Also I loved the chicken liver toast.

      1. In my limited experience with both (3 or 4 visits each) you'll have much better luck getting seated without a reservation at the Spotted Pig than at Little Owl, even that early. Also, consider sitting at the bar for Spotted Pig--you can seat yourself and they offer the full menu.

In addition to the gnudi at Spotted Pig, I am a big fan of the roquefort burger.

        1. If you want to be sure to not have a horrendous wait at the Spotted Pig, I'd show up at 5:30. As for the Little Owl rec, for a saturday night you need to make a reservation at least two weeks in advance, in my experience, and the one time I showed up early on a weekend night without one, they said the wait would be at least 2 hours -- if they could squeeze us in at all.

          1. I like the Pig and agree with above recs - gnudi, burger, chicken liver toast. I like their bloody marys and their beer selection. Agree completely about the time - I would call and see what time they do first seating and go then.
