Need a nice restaurant in Princeton

My boss and I are trying to get a gift certificate for his sister's birthday at a nice restaurant in Princeton - or Princeton area (we live in Denver, Colorado.) She is a mom of 3 and he'd like to send her a nice dinner. Something yummy and nice, but not too fancy (and just for her and her bubby.) If possible, please include a website and / or phone #.

  1. The Lawrenceville Inn might be just what you are looking for. It's just outside of Princeton, a bit romantic, with good service and and food.

    1. Brothers Moon, in Hopewell, is terrific. I think it's better than L'ville Inn these days, since the amazing chef Scott left to go back to the Ryland Inn. I hear the Blue Spoon (i think that's the name) in Hopewell is also very good, but havent' been. I've gone to Brothers Moon many times over the past few years and am always delighted by the food. I guess I'd call it greenmarket cuisine, for lack of a better term...seasonally focused. The lamb chops are wonderful, all the fish/shellfish dishes are fantastic.
I'd been to L'ville Inn many times while Scott was cooking there and have to say that since he's gone, there's been a distinct drop-off in the food, both taste-wise and in terms of imagination.

That is so sad about the Lawrenceville Inn. I've only been once a few years ago, but I loved it. That was going to be my recommendation to the OP.

You're thinking of Blue Bottle in Hopewell. I read a good review in the NY Times, but haven't been able to try it yet.

I've heard the Ferry House is good, although I've never been there myself. http://www.theferryhouse.com/

      2. I second Brothers Moon. Food is great, seasonal menus change with whatever is ripe, polished service. Also it's a BYOB (bring your own bottle, if that's something weird in Denver?). Last time I was there (~3 weeks ago) I was again very pleased. Check their website to get an idea if it fits: www.brothersmoon.com.
