Dinner and a dance

I'm planning a birthday dinner / dance for my wife in a couple weeks and told her I'd find a place where she can wear her little black dress and not feel overdressed. Now I have to find that place - any suggestions?

While we're at it, any chance any of these places also have dancing - does that exist anywhere? What ever happened to dinner and dancing - not hip hop, house, reggae, etc - I'm too old for that. Just good food and slow dancing, like in the movies - romantic :) Any ideas?

You betcha by golly wow the Old Mill still does romantic dinner & dancing nights. Now depending on the "I'm too old for that" factor, this may excite you. The Platters are performing Nov 23 & 24. The food's decent according to friends of mine that go there and other friends that perform there. I, personally, have not been.

The resevoir lounge is fun but very loud. I'd go after dinner so you can enjoy both. The old mill was definitely the old school traditional thing, not sure if they still do that though.

If you're game for something a little more upbeat, check out the Reservoir Lounge. They have live swing jazz every night. Friday nights are fabulous -- same band every Friday -- a 6-piece swing band. The leader even wears a zoot suit. Always lots of folks dancing away. I've never eaten dinner there, but have had some apps and drinks, both of which have been good. Great atmosphere, too. Downstairs, a bit funky with exposed brick and beams.

Last time I was there, there was a $10 cover - worth it. Tuesdays are fun too

I think if you go for dinner a bit earlier you don't have to pay cover. Regardless, it's worth it. It's a great place.
