You do run right through Richmond, which has some nice places, but none that I know of that are right off the road and easy to get to. There is one passable joint right along I-85 in South Hill VA called Kahill's. Decent selection of entrees and sandwiches in a kind of country club type atmosphere. Their steaks are top notch but there is lighter dining as well, and a kids menu, and it's very reasonably priced. A friend who frequently drives NY to Myrtle Beach recommended it as a good stop and now that's also my regular stop when I pass thru. It's on US 1, just about a mile north of I-295 on the northbound side, in a mall, a little hard to see from the road but it's behind Blinds To Go. They had some nice looking ribs going on as well. They're off the I-95 Boulevard Exit in Richmond.
