Wolferman's muffins sold retail in East Bay?

Anyone seen Wolferman's English muffins in any Oakland/Berkeley stores? I know that Bristol Farms in L.A. has sold them, and there's now a BF store in the new Westfield shopping center on Market Street in San Francisco... I'm hoping to avoid crossing the bridge for English muffins, though!

  1. Loved these when I lived in St. Louis. If all else fails, you can order direct online.

    1. Boy, "Wolferman's" rang a very old bell in my brain that said "Kansas City" and lo and behold I was right. I grew up in central Missouri and Wolferman's was sort of "it" for gourmet food.

Same for me. They're owned by Sara Lee and do almost exclusively catalog business.

Ah, Sara Lee would explain why I've seen them in some major market ... but, alas, I can't remember where. If I had to guess, it would be Andronico's around Christmas. I remember being surprised to see them. Someone gifted me with them one Christmas and I wasn't overly impressed, so I didn't buy them when I saw them. Lots of people love them though, just not my thing. It wasn't a recent sighting either.

Some of my fondest memories are of eating at The 11th and Walnut Location as a kid.

Superb food that probably set me on my chowhound path.

Interesting history here about Thomas and Wolferman Muffins.
