Romantic/Cozy weekday breakfast or lunch?

My boyfriend's birthday is coming up and I am planning to take him out for a cozy/romantic breakfast or lunch on a weekday. Nothing too fancy or high-end, I am hoping for something quiet and cozy. We're in West LA, but willing to venture out for something refreshing. Anything with a view or in an area we can stroll around afterwards would be a big plus. Any thoughts? Thank you so much!!

  1. One Pico at Shutters on the Beach. Terrific view and food. I don't know what you mean by "too fancy," but it's definitely quiet and cozy!

thanks for the rec, chica! i am looking for a relaxed place we don't have to get too dressy for. my impression could be wrong, i am guessing that one pico would be more upscale than that?

    2. Try Le Marmiton on Montana Blvd. in SM - a weekday will be far less crowded than the weekend.

thanks tdo ca! i will check that out!

      2. Firefly Bistro in South Pasadena has a great ambiance. The food's been fresh and pretty good overall, if sometimes a bit uneven. I believe brunches might be their strong point.

        1. You could try Joan's on Third for good salads and sandwiches. If the weather is nice, you could sit at one of the outside tables. This is definitely a casual place, but the food is good. And you could stroll down Third Street afterwards.

Another option would be grabbing lunch in Venice and strolling down Abbot Kinney Blvd afterwards. You could eat at Lilly's, which is not too formal, and then walk over to Jin Patisserie for some great chocolates for dessert. Then walk down the street for a few blocks.
