Cooking Club (Rochester MN)

I'm not sure if this is the proper forum for this topic or not, but I'm looking for a cooking club in Rochester, MN. It doesn't have to be fancy, theme based, or anything special. I'm just looking for other foodies who enjoy cooking and eating as much as I do.

  1. A group of Mayo folks has a 'foodies' club - we pick a theme each month and do sort of a pot luck based on that theme. Past themes have included Spanish, Alsatian, Southern, etc. If you send me your email address, I'll put you on the distribution list.

Abby B - I tried looking up your email on the chowhound profle but had no luck. Would you like me to post my email here or contact you in a different way?

      1. We did the mayo club a few years ago. It was fun. My only knock was that the recipes tended to be really time consuming/overly complicated versions. If you are like me, you may try to find an easy going group that doesn't mind substitutions.

        1. I'm still waiting to hear back about the Mayo Club. Do you know if it still exists...or if anything else exists in the area? I'm quite keen to become involved in cooking :-D

          1. I would be surprised if its not still going. Since its all volunteers and the holiday season just passed I'm sure somebody will hook up with you soon.

sadly I'm still waiting. I have half a mind to gather some Roch Chowhounds and make our own club!

I am moving to RST in june (from Texas) and the idea seems cool.

Am a transplanted Texas myself. Take yourself to El Gallo, the taco place in the Barlow Hy Vee shopping center (between the wedding dress store and Weight Watchers, hee hee) for your Mexican fix. If you ask nicely, they'll put on this awesome video of bull riding disasters, I think it's called Golpes Peligrosos or something like that.

Chowhound gatherings are lots of fun, but we ask that you please follow the guidelines here:

As discussed there, we ask posters to make such arrangements off the boards (other than the announcement thread that we will sticky and lock), so that the regional boards don't get cluttered with the logistical arrangements, which are off-topic.

                          Thank you!
