Time To Play, Is It Safe!?!?!?!?
About 3 weeks ago I smoked some jalapenos. I was going to make some chipotles in abodo. Problem is, I got sick and really didn't feel like doing it. I'm now better and have been for a few weeks. While rearranging my fridge, guess what I found.
Are they still any good?? They look fine. Smell great too.
I haven't made chipotles but I use fresh jalapeño peppers all the time. They should be fine if they still look and smell fresh. They should be feel firm. Like other peppers, when they start going bad, they start developing soft spots that are discolored.
When in doubt, throw it out.
Jalapenos are not particularly expensive and after "resting" for 3 weeks in your fridge, who knows what the quality of the finished product might be. Why not just start over again with a new batch of jalapenos. That should insure a better quality end product and one that you won't have to think twice about eating.
