Jim's still on the road eating and reporting, but, with a couple of big parties for the official CHOW.com launch going on, there's been some lag in publication of updates.

So we just wanted to let you know that when the next report posts, we'll definitely put a "heads up" on this board.

For those who haven't been reading along, the North Carolina leg of the tour has been great fun. Get thee to Chow and read and listen and watch. It may not be about food, but it isn't often one has a chance to hear the Alpha Hound playing "Dueling Banjos" on his trombone.

It's too Bad the Big Dog can banter about living life, but we can't.
Just a lament. I like people's stories about food and travel. Maybe a Food & Travel Board would ease the pain.

I can't banter about non-chow things on the message boards either...the moderators would delete me just as they would you (very rarely I invoke Big Dog privilege to post about something off-topic, but haven't done so in ages). The reason our forums are so chowcentric - rife with undiluted tips and with such a low signal-to-noise ratio - is because we work to keep things really narrow. Narrowness of scope is the key to the whole thing.

Chow.com is different...it's about editorial material, written "one-to-many". We aim to do one thing really well on Chowhound: swap chow tips. And the density and usefulness that's resulted are likely what attracted you here in the first place!
