Sausalito - Sartaj India Cafe - Punjab burritos, Indian spicy egg breakfast & apple pie?

A Sausalito brunch request brought up a mention of Sartaj serving good spicy indian eggs, indian omelet and pancakes.

Looking around on the web it seems that it is a family run place, the lamb burritos are good and they supposedly have a good homemade apple pie. If that last is true, I'm so there. There are two mentions of the pie, one of them in a 2003 Sunset Magazine article. The home made chai is said to be good too.

This blog has some pictures and a positive report

Another mention:

Anyone have more info on the place?

  1. I've eaten there many times since the current owner worked there and cooked Indian food in the then-mostly bakery. I've always found her food quite good and a very good value. It's the real thing at a very good price. My only problem is that I don't like to eat that much food for lunch :-)

    1. I'm the author of the first blog you mention -- I go there often and have never been disappointed. It's an authentic family run place and they come in very early to make things from scratch.

Nice blog annalou. What are your favorites at Sartaj? Have you ever tried the apple pie?

BTW, I was reading your comments on Harmony. I hope you will update Chowhounds about it by either starting a new post or adding to this one
