Is this a trick question? Is there some reason to believe it's something other than what it says: a cafe that serves Tibetan food?

It's a bonafide question, as Robert Lauriston's reply underscores. I.e., is it really a Tibetan place, or a pricey send-up of a Tibetan place?

Maybe yak mascarpone?

The chef's Tibetan but the menu's mostly Cal-Tib dishes of her own invention, e.g. the mushroom momos. She told us that mascarpone's similar to something they have there.

It's a little Tibetan place at 2020 University between Milvia and Shattuck in Berkeley. We've eaten there lots of times. The Cafe Tibet soup, bean soup, and mushroom "momos" with mascarpone are my favorite dishes. Nice salads, stir-fried noodles, and fried beef turnover thingies, too.

The chef/owner, Samten Chinkarlaprang, worked under Emily Luchetti at Stars, so her desserts are sometimes as good as you'll find at the most expensive restaurants in the area. Try the seasonal sorbets and ginger creme brulee.
