Disappointed at Crave in Castro

singleguychef Oct 13, 2006 07:31 PM

I tried this place last weekend. It's another small-plates place. I was excited that the Castro was getting a new dining establishment, but it really is more better for its bar than the food. Anyone heard of the executive chef Matthew DuTrumble? I've never heard of him and I'm not really impressed by the execution of the food. It was tasty and it's a good location, but doesn't rise to anything more than a bar food place. It should be more like what Butterfly used to be down by the lower Mission area before it moved to the Embarcardero. Anyway, you can read a full review on my blog (http://singleguychef.blogspot.com ).

I have to chime in that Crave is nothing special. Decent, but thoroughly unmemorable. I had the mini tacos and they were OK: nothing more, nothing less. The seasoning can definitely be more assertive.
