pickles: what is going on here?
a few months ago, before i moved to nyc, i was having lunch at the w times square. the burger i ordered was pretty terrible, but what shocked me was the pickle that was served with it. i took a bite and nearly burled right there. sniffing the pickle again, i assumed something must have gone terribly wrong.
today, at schiller's, much the same scenario. the cheeseburger was a bit of a letdown, but once again, the pickle was out of hand.
so my question is this: are these pickles pickles-gone-wrong, or is it just a different kind of pickle that's a bafflingly-aquired taste? cause with the exception of these two, every i've never met a pickle i didn't like. somebody, please, cure my disease.
I think you may have run into a string of bad-pickle-luck, and I send my condolences :) It's happened to all of us. If you would like your faith restored in burgers and pickles simultaneously, go straight to Molly's Pub on 3rd Ave. bet 21st and 22nd Streets. And if you do follow this advice, please update us on how it went, breaking your pickle hex!
next time i get one of these errant pickles, i'm going to just have to ask the waiter what in the lord's name is going on.
thanks for the recommend on molly's... i ride past it all the time. will have to dive in to sample the wares.
Royale on Ave C and 10th serves their fatastic burgers with Gus' Pickle Slices...an excellent rendition. Try it to see what a pickle topped burger should taste like.
