Calgary: Water menus?
In one of Jeffrey Steingarten's books...I think it was "The Man Who Ate Everything"...there is an excellent chapter on water and the restaurant trade. If you think that mark-ups and profits from the sale of wine are high you should read about "bottled" water.
Have not encountered any "water menus" here in Edmonton but most places will have Pellegrino and the non-sparkling equivalent.
I know that OPM...the Earls'/Joey's variant of Chinese food..some say their Western Canadian attempt to emulate P.F. Chang...sells VOSS as you see a number of customers leaving with the bottles to use at home as rose bud vases and the like.
A very similar type bottle is now being used to market a new label of Italian pinot grigio. I have not tried it yet as I subscribe to the adage that if your eye is attracted by a wine bottle's shape beware of the content [smile]. Remember Pescevino in the bottle shaped literally like a fish?
