lunch at the jcc... in los gatos

withalonge Oct 12, 2006 08:14 PM

just got back from lunch at the jcc in los gatos.. the cafe seems to have changed management and is now called "schmoozers cafe".

aside from the slow and terribly disjointed service, and limited menu... I did enjoy my lunch.

I had a pita round (toasted on a panini grill) with some nice, garlicky hummus and fresh tasting tabouleh. My friend had a grilled tuna panini, that was all a panini should be, nicely toasted (had to wait extra time for the grill). and melty on the inside.

menu seems to be kosher & vegetarian, (no meat aside from fish and eggs). they have pretty decent bagels w/ lox, or melted cheese, cream cheese, etc. in the morning. might have to go back and try the "breakfast panini"... that sounds tasty, but what is not to like about melted cheese & eggs?. I don't know where they get their bagels from, but they are decent. the bread, looks like semi-freddi's. the old place used to have more salads... now it looks like only a greek salad is on the menu. they are only open in the morning until lunch, which is a drag... would be nice if they stayed open later in the afternoon.. but hopefully business will pick up and they will expand their hours and menu.

does anyone know the inside track on the change?
