People will tell you there's no good barbeque in Dallas, but inasmuch as you're coming from New England, any BBQ here will be better than anything up there, even if Dallas BBQ is lame compared to central Texas joints in Lockhart, Luling, etc. I'd go to Baker's Ribs on Commerce Street in Deep Ellum (immediately east of downtown) for lunch. Have dinner at Stephen Pyles on Ross Ave downtown (make reservations well in advance) and that should take care of your Southwestern Jones. Have Sunday brunch at Cafe San Miguel on Henderson to get your Mexican fix. For another great dinner, I'd go to Local or York Street. Other breakfast/brunch options would be Dream Cafe and, if you want chicken-fried steak and biscuits with gravy along with your greasy-spoon eggs, the Original Market Diner. You should also consider lunch at the Nasher Sculpture Center downtown -- great art along with good food.
