Snow in Chicago-Shortribs Tonight
It's below freezing in Chicago, a definite nip in the air with a frosting of snow on the roofs. In anticipation, I made Asian Short ribs last night for tonight's dinner. Yum! Can hardly wait!
Below is a link to the recipe from Fine Cooking followed by a link to Noodle's modifications and comments on the recipe. Bon Chow!
I made this recipe last night and it was fantastic - DH wasn't sure which short rib recipe was better - this one, or the Balthazar one. I decided to play up the Asian theme (it has anise, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, scallions ...) and served it with a grilled egg plant salad (shallots, lemon juice, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, mint and parsley - the latter two b/c I didn't have cilantro) and stir fried bok choy. Served the ribs with a fantastic super long grain rice from Kalyustan's. A delicious dinner for a cold windy night (in NYC this time!). Only downside was when I put all the serving dishes on the table and realized every dish was brown & green (grilled eggplant/herbs, browned onions/bok choy, ribs/sauteed leeks on top)!
