Pressure Cooker novice

I have a Fagor pressure cooker but lost the owner's manual. Does anyone have any cooking tips for a first time user? In short, I don't know how to get it up to proper pressure, maintain it and know when the food is done. I want to make an oxtail stew and think the device can expedite the cooking process.

Thanks in advance!

Here's a good starting point. Fagor wants to help you.

oops..i forgot...when it hits the point where it is "pressure cooking" I turn the temperature down to low/medium.

I think that practice makes perfect as far as pressure cooking is concerned. I usually raise the temperature, make sure I have enough liquid and then put on the lid. Then I wait until it starts to make scary sounds and I start to time the process. Timing is everything. I found this site that has helped with some cooking times:

I have always had a fear that I will be killed by an exploding pressure cooker. The thought of my mom's old one that rattled and shook still scares me.
