O.C. Entertainment book restaurants

It's the end of the line for my 2006 entertainment card. Which restaurrants there is a must-go-to resto? I've only used:

1. cask and cleaver (waste of time and money)
2. India Cook House (mistake)
3. Avo's (my favorite and will definitely go back there again)
4. Hacienda for brunch (so-so)

Tomorrow i'm doing PJ Abbey's. And Frenzy sushi for dinner.

  1. If Dosa Place still has a coupon in there, try it!

    1. What problems did you have with India Cook House? I go there occasionally and usually order one of several specific items. I think their Chicken Tikka Masala is the best I've ever had, but there are other items that don't really strike my fancy. Maybe I can give you a recommendation or two if you let me know what you didn't like.

I hope you enjoy your visit to Frenzy. Please let us know how it went.

      1. Just a heads up, but Frenzy no longer honors the entertainment card.

That's right. I saw a sign on the door to that affect the last time I was there.

Really??? bummer. i was disappointed that they are not in the 2007 book but they won't honor 2006? yowza.....

        2. Please report back on PJ's. I really liked a lunch that I had there a few years ago but, it doesn't seem to be universally liked here.

I went to PJ Abbey's for lunch today. I ordered Chicken Pesto Gorgonzola Pasta. Big serving, nice presentation but very bland. Very generous with the chicken, pine nuts, squash and eggplant but gorgonzola cheese smothered the pesto flavor resulting in an imbalanced bland-y "is there really pesto in this?" taste.

My friend ordered the Oriental Chicken salad with Pears and commented that it would be better had they put more dressing.

Service was really bad (place was packed) and refills on the drinks were zero - there was only 1 busboy for the entire place. They made a mistake with our check (3 drinks were charged for a 2 person table) so it took longer. Parking was horrendous too.

Not a place I'd go back to for lunch or dinner.

          2. The Clay Oven on Jeffrey in Irvine is really good. I like Marco Polo for Italian in Newport Beach and for great Southern catfish, Johnny Reb's in Orange can't be beat.

Second Johnny Reb's. Not only do they take the Entertainment Book coupon, they let you use it twice!

Not so crazy about their ribs, but their fried green tomatoes are delightful. Their chicken fried steak, gut busting!
