Breakfast near Harvard Sq. on a Monday (latish)?

I'm drawing a blank. Needs to be easily walkable from the Square. Need not be fancy but decent would be good. Plus for ur-Cambridge. Is Pamplona open by 10? All suggestions gratefully entertained.

We wound up at Henrietta's Table which was very nice for a lingering quasi-business breakfast, probably the best choice. Service a trifle slow but that didn't matter under the circumstances. Cambridgey enough.

Thanks all. I've forwarded recs for Henrietta's, Petsi's, and Algiers to the breakfast organizer.

Skip Algiers. Best for mint tea and hookahs upstairs. The food is overpriced and just OK, imo.

NB: My above post is incorrect -- Algiers no longer permits hookahs upstairs.

On a related note, why on earth would the mods erase helpful posts correcting me about the smoking situation at Algiers? All the more baffling since I can't even edit my post to make the correction myself.

The law school cafeteria is quiet and affordable, but I wouldn't call it "decent" ... it's typical cafeteria food. Henrietta's Table would be my pick.

I live in a dorm connected to the law school cafeteria, and go there once or twice a semester. I'd be very happy if they replaced the whole thing with a Taco Bell and a Pizza Hut.

What about Harkness, the law school's cafeteria?
They make egg dishes to order, waffles, bacon, etc?
          It's quiet and affordable.

Z Square Cafe, Restaurant & Bar, Paul Sussman's new place is open in the cafe 6AM-2AM. http://www.z-square.com/ with savory & sweet crepes, etc.

How about the Greenhouse, right in the center of the square, next to the newsstand? It is what it is..one of the last holdouts from the Pre-Gap Harvard Square..you can definitely get breakfast.

You can indeed get breakfast, but I've always found it stressfully busy, and awfully expensive for a greasy spoon-type breakfast.

Yes. I have a friend who loves it for its all-day breakfast menu, but I don't think the food is any better than, say, Denny's.

If you just want a muffin or scone with coffee or tea, I'd suggest Petsi's Pies on Putnam Ave. I think they have limited other breakfast selections (frittata?), but I've never tried them. The scones are wonderful, and it's a nice, quiet neighborhood place a few blocks from the heart of Harvard Square.

Wow, I never knew of this location, but I second the scones at Petsi's Pies.

Henrietta's Table on a weekday is the best. Prices are on par with Zoe's yet the portions are just as ample. And the chow factor will be much higher. I recommend especially the scrambled eggs. Menu: http://www.henriettastable.com/menus/...

The breakfast selection in Harvard Square is poor, I think.

Burdick would be great, if thick hot chocolate and a torte qualify as breakfast. Algiers is good quality--but not sure what they have for breakfast.

Has anybody tried Henrietta's Table in the Charles Hotel? I'm guessing it's the best traditional breakfast in the square.

                        I liked Henrietta's Table. I'd recommend it!

Henrietta's Table does an excellent breakfast. I'm also a fan of the spinach and feta omelettes at Greenhouse. Finally, forgive me, but whoever suggested Harkness should have their chowhound license revoked.

Pastries and ridiculously good hot chocolate at LA Burdick. They're open at 8 on Mondays. Coffee ain't half bad either.

Yes, I think they get the points for ur-Cambridge-ness. I seem to recall they had omelets and things. According to this article - http://www-tech.mit.edu/V115/N57/rest... - they have breakfast all day. The article is about eleven years old, but, well, I don't think Algiers changes much.

Zoe's, 1105 Mass Ave, under the Dophin restaurant--about a block or two past the Inn at Harvard if you're heading toward Central Square. Zoe's serves breakfast all day. It's basic diner fare--pancakes, eggs, french toast, waffles, bacon, home fries, etc. Definitely not fancy but not a dive, either.
