Lunch in Asheville

kate.s Oct 10, 2006 06:52 PM

Hello all. I am heading out to Asheville at the end of the month and I am looking for a good lunch place near downtown. I am going to be by myself so I would like place that is pretty casual. Looking through the boards, I think I might try out Salsa’s. I was also thinking about the Bier Garden, have anyone been there? Thanks!

Salsa is an excellent choice. It is one of Asheville's finest!

(I know nothing about the Bier Garden.)

You have done your research well. Salsa is perfect. And the tables are so close together, you won't feel alone ;-)

The Beir Garden is a bar (open air in good weather) with a huge selection of beers. I wouldn't eat there...but it's a nice spot if you are a big beer fan.

What do you all get when you go to Tupelo Honey? I went once several years ago and thought it was just average...not good enought that I ever went back. Apparently I didn't get the right stuff...what do you recommend?

I agree with all the above and recommend Laughing Seed on Wall st.

great lunch menu and very reasonable...

it is a vegetarian joint with many international items and many carnivores dig it...you won't leave hungry!

Lets see...everything I've ever had there has been wonderful...I usually seem to be there for breakfast...the sweet potatoe pancakes are great, their biscuits are out of this world. I think I had goat cheese in my grits one time...loved that. The shrimp and grits are great, too...oh, and the fried green tomatoes.
