Original SoupMan in Toronto: conflicting messages
Does anyone know what really happened to the OSM in the Eaton Centre ? The kiosk in the sub-basement has been abandoned since mid-summer, although menu selections continue to be posted for the Toronto location on the main website. The desertion looked to be precipitous, since soft drinks are still stowed in the kiosk. A rough sign promised a September re-opening.
In mid-September, I phoned OSM's corporate HQ to inquire, and reached, I think, the great man himself, as to my initial question he rudely barked "Who are you and why do you want to know ?" Telling him just as roughly that I was both a potential investor (not !) and enthusiastic customer he said he had the lease in his hand at that moment, and they should be re-opened by the end of September. Clearly, that did not happen.
In the meantime, I emailed the corporate people at the Eaton Centre but have not yet had the courtesy of a reply. I guess that they must have been/be expecting a re-opening, otherwise surely they would not have left the kiosk in place. Malls generally don't like signs of abandonment and failure !
Any information ?

I got the same response as the first poster when I called head office. I was also told that they're dealing with a lot of unexpected red tape and assured me it was reopening in late September. I hope so, I won "soup for life" from the place and would really like it to continue.
