Anthing Interesting But TADDICH in the Area??? Tomorrow Night

We're probably going to take Brooklyn friends to Taddich Grill tomorrow night, but don't want to miss anything newish or undiscoveredish in that area. How is Rubicon these days? I haven't been in ages.

We're willing to walk some.

  1. We had dinner at Rubicon a couple of months ago and it was outstanding. Might stop in at Aqua (next door to Tadich) for a cocktail at the bar, very nice. Kokkari is near by if Greek sounds good.

    1. I don't think there's anything new in the neighborhood other than some lunch-only spots.

      1. I have not been but I have been hearing raves for Silks in the Mandarin Hotel.

I always liked Silks. Do they have a new chef? Are these recent raves?

Recent as in the past 6 months. Not that Bauer is the end-all-be-all but he gave them 3& 1/2 stars. None of my friends have printed anything so I'll link to his review. I am never sure what the linking policy is anymore; some posts remain up and some get deleted. Here goes nothing: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article...

Here's an enthusiastic report from a few months ago:

          2. Jeanty at Jack's is not new, but I'm still stoking a taste memory of a wonderful short rib dish I had there several months ago. Very reliable, good service (but ask for downstairs seating, much more lively and brasserie-like). Not much resemblance to Tadich, if that's what you're seeking.
