Yucatacan Markets for Cooking

We will be staying in a hacienda 45 minutes south of Merida for 10 days at Christmas time. Can anyone suggest good regional markets and/or specialty food shops in the region? We plan to eat out at several restaurants and haciendas - and have been reading the comments - but also want to experiment with some cooking of our own.
