The MSN City Guide is just CitySearch's guide rebranded.

And CitySearch's "best of" list is compiled from on-line votes. About the only people that vote (both early and often) are the owners and employees of some of the restaurants, so you end up with all kinds of kooky results.

If CitySearch Dallas can be relied on:

The most romantic restaurant in town is Capital Grille (with Texas de Brazil at #3, MoMo's Pasta #6, etc.).

The best fine dining is Capital Grille (with Maguire's #2, as Steven T learned the hard way).

The best salads are at Maguire's (with the uptown location coming in #2).

The best seafood is Capital Grille.

Best special occasion dining is Capital Grille (followed by Maguire's at #2, with Buca di Beppo, Dick's Last Resort, and YO Ranch Steakhouse also making the top ten).

Best steak, Capital Grille.

Best wine list, Capital Grille (with Maguire's in second).

Best comfort food, Maguire's Uptown (with Maguire's on the Tollway in second).

Best date spot, Capital Grille (with Maguire's in second).

Best group dining, Dick's Last Resort (with Maguire's Uptown in second).

Best outdoor dining, Maguire's Uptown.

Best brunch, Maguire's comes in #2.

Best desserts, Maguire's comes in #4.

Are you seeing a trend?

Scott

  1. So do Capital Grille and/ or Maguire's own shares in MSN? I mean, I know CG is a classic, "safe", businessman's chain, but best seafood? Come on!
