Not too far from Sony is Sushi Mori. I don't think they serve lunch. at pico at the ocean park split.

NAspy, as a Zoholic, I gotta beg to differ--I just googlemapped it, and it's 1.2 miles from Sony to Zo, and headed north kinda toward Hollywood, anyway...and there's just no finer sushi in town, right now. rantoit, there's my vote for Sushi Zo.

I also love the place (Zo, that is) and have been several times, enjoying myself immensely each time. I also live in the area and drive around here regularly. Our OP would need to take Washington Blvd east to National, turn left on National and drive for about a mile to get to Sushi Zo. It can be a very trafficky drive, as both Washington and Venice Blvds can get very slow around certain times. (Overland, as previously suggested, is going 1/2 mile or so west out of your way). OP would probably get there faster on a bicycle than in a car.

Zo is certainly worth any drive, but it is neither particularly close to Sony Studios nor on the way to Hollywood -- it's west of Sony Studios, not east.

I guess it depends on your definition of "close." I inferred from the op that he/she wanted something within walking distance of Sony, as my reading of the OP's request is that he/she wants to eat sushi near Sony Studios, and *then* get into the car and drive to Hollywood -- not drive to sushi and then drive to Hollywood. But I could be wrong.

Close to Sony Studios and in the same building as Trader Joe's, is K-Zo, which serves sushi and other dishes. I had a meal there with friends a few weeks ago and in addition to other things, had toro, spanish mackerel and yellowtail nigiri, all VERY good, though not quite the superb quality of Sushi Zo, endorsed by Dommy! above.

Sushi Zo is just a little out of your way -- not in culver city, and not really on the way to your next destination. But it is worth a trip.

Right around the corner is Sushi Karen... which is pretty good! But even better, a bit off on National is Sushi Zo, which is epic and open for lunch! :)
