A quick search revealed that a few posts on Moroccan joints mention having argan oil served, but I am interested in buying a bottle. Stupidly, after falling for it on vacation, I did not bring any back with me. Anyone seen any in the Boston area?

I know I've seen it somewhere in the area: maybe Syrian Grocery in the South End, 270 Shawmut Ave. Call them at 617-426-1458.

my moroccan friends tell me to be careful - it is often "cut" with other oil - you might call Arak's or Russo's to see if they carry this

I just dropped by Syrian Grocery: they carry it, but are awaiting their next Moroccan import order (along with harissa and preserved lemons), due in a matter of weeks. The pure stuff is expensive, ~$35 for an 8-oz. bottle.

moonman008: AWESOME advice. I'll let you know how it turns out.

teezeetoo: a good warning, and thanks for the names. I'll be testy in my tasting--hope I remember the taste of pure argan oil!

MC Slim JB: thank you so much. Yeah, I kind of figured that since I didn't buy when we were IN Morocco, we'd be facing some substantial costs over here...but what's money for if not exchanging for desired goods, eh? *grins* As soon as I'm drawing a paycheck, Syrian (and Arak's and Russo's) is (are) on my list!

I don't live in your area but I recently found it at Whole Foods. It was about $38 a bottle. Did you know you can use it on your skin as well? Better than that oh-so-expensive department store brand of chemically infused anti-wrinkle goo. A little on the food....a little on the face....now it seems like a bargain.
