T-Birds in Los Gatos: Doesn’t That Translate to “Birds in The Cats”? Nevertheless, Great Sourdough Crust Pizza
My first time trying to go here, I made the mistake of going south on Main St. from Hwy 9 per the Yelp.com directions, when T-Birds was actually north.
The next time trying to go here I didn't bother calling first to make sure they were open. Fast forward to 2 p.m. on a Sunday outside a closed sign. A sign on the door said they opened at 3 p.m. (thankfully they unexpectedly opened their doors at 2:30 that day), so we walked around for awhile. If you have to be waiting for someplace to open, hope that it's in Los Gatos - there are lots of shops (more if you walk south of Hwy 9). We had a lovely rainy day walk.
Oh yeah - the pizza!
We got ours with tomatoes, which were nice and red. We also asked for fresh garlic, which is free and is put in the sauce. Unfortunately there was too much cheese which is a problem at nearly every pizzeria any more. They do have an option where you can get low fat mozzarella which I appreciate.
I really liked the pizza. The yummy sourdough crust was perfectly crisp and thin. The sauce, especially because of the garlic, had the right amount of bite to it. The boyfriend mysteriously didn't like the crust or sauce or quantity of cheese. My co-worker who loves T-Birds was shocked when I reported that he didn't like it. I'm bummed because going back will be a hard sell.
This is the perfect place for a rainy day afternoon. Only one other table was occupied, and it just felt very comfy cozy.
