Mazaj Shawarma (DT Calgary) [moved from Canada Board]

Many months ago I had good things to say about a shawarma place downtown a few doors east of the Calgary Transit offices on 7th Ave (this is between 1st and 2nd Streets and is a pretty depressing stretch- let's hope that the plans for redeveloping 7th Ave come to fruition). I could not recall the name of the place. Well, I finally made it back today; it's Mazaj Shawarma and Juice Bar and it's at 230-7th Ave SW, ph 440-1440. I had the Mazaj Plate ($8.69) today, with rice pilaf (it was nice, cinammony almost), chicken, excellent hommous, pickles (including their homemade turnip pickles which are thinly sliced, not the fatter matchsticks you normally see), a wack of pita and a nice dollop of their outsanding, milder-than-most garlic sauce (when you taste it you'll see what I mean- it doesn't have the kick that eg Shawarma King does- it's almost like a remoulade). It was great. Shawarmas are done on the square "pita" sheet a la Shawarma Station in Kensington.
I forgot to ask about opening hours, so I am not sure if this is strictly one for the downtown weekday crowd.
