Buddakan for a birthday dinner?

I am somewhat motivated to celebrate my birthday with about 6-8 friends in slightly trendy environs. Can someone please help me out with food recommendations and the general pricing at Buddakan? I would like to spend no more than $50 per person with tax and tips, without drinks. Is that doable at Buddakan?
If not, any suggestions for alternatives with a similar vibe and that is good for a slightly larger group would be extremely welcome.
Thanks!

Wherever you end up, AVOID Buddha Bar

I think that is doable....we went last month and loved it. There were 4 of us and we ate and drank a ton and the bill was about $400 or so. We had 5 appetizers, 4 entrees, 3 sides, 2 desserts, 4 coffees, bottle of sake and drinks.....a little excessive, but fun. It is a family style / sharing type of place, so you can get a bunch of appetizers and several entrees to share....prices were very reasonable (I thought).

Without drinks may be doable for under $50, but do you really want to keep track of what you order? We went with four people and we ate till we were stuffed with a bottle of wine between $300-350 including tip back in April.

Taking a break from work so I can't think straight right now, but I'll come back to this later. I'm sure others will give their 2 cents soon. Good luck.
