lunch on the Danforth

Any good recommendations for lunch on The Danforth?

Sushi Delight does a roaring business with their $6 lunch special, which is one the strip's best deals. Follow it up with a half dozen loukoumades and espresso from Athens Pastries and it's a great lunch for 2 for around 20 bucks.
Further east the Makkah Restaurant does excellent kebabs.

Danforth is one of my favorite area to eat around town. My favorite Greek restaurant there is Astoria. I love their lamb solvaki. Miriko, beside the second cup, is very good japanese food. (Great all you can eat dinner too!) As many already said, Mocha Mocha. Very good salad there. And if you are really in the mood for peameal. New York Cafe. (corner of danforth and broadview.On broadview).

Mr.Greek's always a favorite for lunch at Carlaw/Danforth. (diagonally across the Friendly Greek) Right next door Mr.Greek is a good Japanese place that's got an affordable "all-you-can-eat" lunch special. Can't remember the name, but it's pretty good!

Also, if Greek food's not your thing try Caribbean food at the Guyanese owned Caribbean Desires Restaurant. It's on the north side on Danforth west of Donlands.

The best souvlaki IMHO is at Asteria, on Danforth just east of Broadview. Very cheesy interior, but fantastic. And cheap.

If you want atmosphere and something other than souvlaki, though, this is not the place for you! :)

Ooh, well, I know this isnt ON the danforth, but RIGHT at the top of the danforth at broadview is the cafe next door and it serves excellent sandwiches, soups etc.

I wouldnt call it a diner, its very fresh and healthy looking. lots of salads. you order at the counter and then sit and they bring it out. Lots of great salads, sandwhiches, crepes, soups, pasta specials, quesidillas etc.

Near Broadview: I agree on Prince of Egypt and a few doors down, The Old Nick has surprisingly good food for a pub. Also Allen's, but it is a tad more pricey.
