My grandmother comes from the old country, as they say, and she's pretty adamant that there's no point in going out for Russian food in New York. I'm hoping to prove her wrong, and surprise her, but I don't know where to go. Can anyone help?
my goodness, take her for a stroll along brighton beach blvd?
in manhattan, maybe RUSSIAN SAMOVAR in theater district.
It depends what your grandma thinks of Russian -- does she want blini, caviar, sturgeon (aristocracy type food) or would pirozhki, pickles, kasha, etc. fit the bill? Brighton beach is good for that (as well as former USSR food) and it should also be noted that it's mostly Ukranian.
I haven't been to any fancy russian restaurants in Manhattan, but the menus to them sound good.
