most succulent roast chicken in the west village

shirlotta Oct 2, 2006 09:02 PM

any suggestions on the best place to get a tender, juicy, crisp-skinned piece/half/whole roasted chicken in the west village? it would be very nice if said place also has good roast chicken sides, i.e. mashed potatoes, roasted red potatoes, baby carrots, garlic spinach, et cetera. droool.

Jefferson Market's roast chicken is sublime. 6th Avenue at 10th Street.

Definately try Jefferson Market. The chicken is moist and delicious. You can get a half chicken with 2 sides (choices of different veggies, potato, sometimes mac and cheese) for $8.50, including tax.

Gourmet Garage does a not bad at all rosemary chicken, but you have to get it while it's fresh ... those heat lamps are murder. And don't bother with the plain (adobo?) chicken variety, it's always dry.

The rotisserie chicken from Pio Maya is really good. You can get a whole/half/quarter.
