Um... I had Thumper at Aziza...

...and it was EXCELLENT!
Three of us started off with the cauliflower soup and one complimentary lentil soup (I guess the chef didn't want the non-souper to feel left out! How great is that?!) Our "small" cauliflower soups was deliciously satisfying-being creamy but without leaving you feeling "heavy" afterwards. The lentil soup (vegan) was very "meaty" in texture and was also enjoyed.
We shared the wild mushroom in phyllo, mediterranean spreads (3: eggplant, cucumber and a third that I can't remember but was slightly sweet - the website lists pomegranate-walnut) and the basteeya. Of the three dishes, I mostly enjoyed the cucumber spread. It had a very smooth yet cucumber-y fresh taste. I have to say that I was somewhat disappointed with the basteeya. The filling seemed chopped a bit too small, thus dense, but still did taste good. It's just that I've had better, more addicting basteeya in the past.
For dinner I had the cloverdale rabbit (wonderful! better than chicken!), DH had the stewed lamb, S had the scallops and G had the vegetable stew. Sadly, I didn't try the scallops nor the vegetable stew (sick) but did enjoy the lamb, even though I'm not a fan of lamb. The accompanying couscous was very good (not much of a fan of couscous, either) and didn't have that "sharp" graininess that it ususally does. My rabbit was FANTASTIC! I was a bit aprehensive to order it as I get a little guilty ordering "pets" or "cute" meats (like venison; although I will TRY those kinds of meats, just not ORDER it). The rabbit was expertly carved by the chef; sliced pieces along with some left on the bone. The meat was so tender and flavorful, the pieces left on the bone fell off easily.
For dessert we had the chocolate cake with mint ice cream and the caramel gelato. We all thought that we'd enjoy the chocolate cake but ended up liking the caramel gelato more- WAY more. The chocolate cake was OK just not anything to write home about. And the mint ice cream was well, minty- just like mint tea. We must have been expecting more of something that resembles the green mint ice cream kind. The caramel gelato on the other hand was smooth, rich, creamy, caramel yummy-ness.
Drinks. S had the sangria which she enjoyed and I had the honeydew which had too large chunks of honeydew and made drinking from the straws impossible to enjoy. The bar should consider serving with boba straws! We had the French press coffee to accompany dessert; the table's first and we all enjoyed it.
All in all, a very enjoyable dining experience. Service was attentive and leisurely. Food was delicious as expected. I join the many voices that recommend Aziza but I will admit that DH and I will dine again but are in no rush to return.
