Porter Ale--what is it and can I get it at the LCBO

I am making a braised short rib recipe that calls for Porter Ale. I am not a beer maven and have no idea what this is. Is it available in Ontario at the LCBO and if so what are the brand names and the best brand to buy. TIA.

So I saw this morning. I'll go to our liquor store to see if they sell it.

I think you are most likely to find the Fuller's here in Toronto but let us know what you do find.

Locally, Mill St (in the Distillery district) makes a coffee porter but it has a strong coffee flavour so I don't think I will use it for that recipe even though they are my favourite brewery.

Slightly off topic, is C'est What still around? I went to a baseball game in Toronto a good 5+ years ago and went there and they had a coffee porter that I still haven't found one better.

            They are indeed....http://www.cestwhat.com/

I have good memories of their coffee porter, although the Mill St. porter is excellent as well.

The C'est What Hemp Ale just popped up here in Ottawa in the LCBO recently. I haven't tried it yet, but it's on my list.
